          Lady

          I am your victim
much more than you are mine,
for I know that what I'm saying
you've been told such a long time,
and the roles that we are playing
          are decaying line by line.

          I am your captive
          for the ages.
          You are the string
          that holds the pages,
in the diaries of the sons
          who've gone to war,
and the biographies of the ones
who paid and learned what pain is for.

You are born between the hearts
          of young men.
          Torn between the parts
          you must love them.

          Though your loneliness continues calling,
down through the years it cries for freedom,
          while the only-ness of livin',
and the comfort you were given,
          continues falling on the battlefields
of the kingdoms you have built
with understanding that you must believe
          the history told you.

So handing up your sons to glory,
watch them leave while you still can see them.
Smile and wish that you could be them.
For there is no one left to hold you.

          Your husbands and lovers died
          along the road.
          They had their pride
          and they had their code.

          I am your victim
much more than you are mine,
for I know that what I'm saying
you've been told such a long time,
and the roles that we are playing
          are decaying line by line.

          Laugh With Me
          (a series of poems; perhaps)

          Always

          I Love You!
          Laugh with me.
          In the morning.
          Always----

          The Ride

          Laugh with me...
With the sun in yours eyes...
          The wind in your face...
Feel the rush of the ride...
          Find peace in this place...

          Wanting More...

          Laugh with me...
          And waves on the shore...
          The gulls on the pier...
          Calling; mine, mine, mine...
          Wanting more, wanting more...
          Now is more. Laughing here...

          One

          Laugh with me...
          While love is new...
          When you are me...
          And I am you...
          Laugh with me...
          When love is true...
          No longer me...
          No longer you...
          When we are one...
          No longer two...

          Aspire

          Laugh with me...
          Let someone see...
          You laughing here...
          Then watch their eyes...
          See their surprise...
          As they draw near...
          As they enquire...
          And then aspire...
          To laughing here...

          Morning

          Laugh with the garden
          Enjoying the sun.
          Laugh with the flowers
          When morning is come.

          Laugh with the garden
          Bright shining with dew.
          Laugh with the flowers,
          And their bright laughing hughes.

          Binding

          Laugh with me;
          Because we're free.
          The past no longer binding.
          Laugh with me;
          Because we see
This joy so long in finding.

          The Reason

          Laugh with me
          So I can see
          The sight of you
          Laughing too.

          Laugh with me
          And let me know
          You are the reason
          I'm laughing so.

          Trying

          You laugh with me:
          So now, you see,
          I laugh with you.

          You laugh with me
          and you set free
          my laughter too.

          Now I don't cry.
          Now I know why.
          You laugh with me.

          It makes me try
          to let you see
          the love in me.

          I Spoke.

          Thinking that I had no words;
          I spoke no more.
          Thinking I had done it all;
          I closed the door.

          Thinking I had heard the world;
          I closed my heart.
          Thinking to escape the pain;
          I drew apart.

          Then you were there laughing
          At a voice I didn't hear.
          Hoping I might laugh again;
I spoke: to draw you near.

          Unknowing

          Others may sit
          In the garden.
          Laugh with the flowers
          And the trees.

          Unknowing who tends
          The garden;
          Ignorant as the birds
          And the bees.

          Without you there would be
          No garden.
          Without you no laughter
          In me.

          Love Was Born

          Laugh with me
          When cold winds blow;
          Bring south the news
          Of coming snow.

          Laugh with me
          While angles fly,
          While dreams go by,
          All white and shinny new.

          I'll laugh with you.
          We'll know it's true:
This is a time of gladness.
It's not a day to morn.

          On a winter night,
          Star shining bright,
          With laughter Love
          Was born.

          Anew

          Laugh with me
          as spring is here.
          If memory serves,
          a second year.

          The laughing flowers
          will spring anew,
          and laughing love
          as well; with you.

          Laughing...
          ...Alone

          I laughed. Alone;
          a monotone
          of solitary sound.

          And laughing there
          with none to hear
          no joy; in laughter found.

          ...in time.

          Two laughing hearts
          so far apart...
          ...in time.
          Still;
          laughed the same.

          As years became
          and time...
          ...remained
          at last;
          the moment came.

          When now is heard
          two voices...
          ...merged...
          in harmony;
          laughing yet again.

          Grow...

          What if you
          had laughed with me;
          some long time ago?

          Would we now
          have the capacity
          to laugh at letting go?

          Without the loss,
          without the tears,
would we now be laughing so?

          From out of all
          the lonely years;
          does not the laughter grow?

          Little Girls

When tears are in your heart
          before you start
          to cry
          remember me,
and how we used to be
          alive.

          When they hurt you again
          think of the pain
          you left here to me.
          Loving is free,
          but you have to pay
when you give your soul away.

          Little girl
          it isn't how
          you thought it was
          out in the world.

          Living In Today

          Not thinking of tomorrow
          you're living in today,
until they come to take it all away,
yea, up until they take it all away.

          Not thinking of anybody
          you make everybody pay,
until you find you've sold it all away.
Who are you when you've sold yourself away?

          In your search for freedom
you leave everybody bleedin' along the way.
When your children ask about it
          what are you gonna say?

Will you tell them they won't find
          the love they're looking for,
          that their hearts
          won't let that happen anymore?

          Not thinking of tomorrow
          you're living in today,
until they come to take it all away.
Yea, up until they take it all away.

          A Long Time

It's been such a long time
          since I saw you,
          yea, such a long time.

          Now I'm not trying
          to compliment you,
          don't get me wrong.

Oh no, no don't get me wrong.

It's just been a long time
          since I saw you,
          since you were
          anywhere near to home.

          And I'm not trying
          to undermine your ego
by saying you were looking fine
the last time I saw you:

          Or trying to determine
if you have been anywhere close to
          or across the line.

          I'm just saying
it sure has been a long time.

          Looking At Her

Like a freedom bird she flies
          overhead.
Like an Eagles word she dies
          all alone.

She heals me with her lies
          when I have bled,
and she fills me with her eyes
          when I'm stone.

          Looking at her self
she'll take me off my shelf
(and hold me) for some comfort
          and a smile.

          Yes she loves me,
          I'm her lover,
          and there isn't any other.
          For a while.

          Love I Love

          Some days we laugh.
          Some days we cry.
          You're the love I love,
I never want to say good-bye.

          You're the love I like
to be near all the time.
          You're the love I gladly
tell the world is only mine.

          Some people love,
          some can only hate.
I'm glad I learned to love you
          before it was too late.

Some days we reach each other,
some days we only get along,
          but we always know
that our love never will be gone.

          Some days we laugh.
          Some days we cry.
          You're the love I love,
I never want to say good-bye.

Thank you for keeping my thoughts alive.

An astute writer once advised all readers: "If you are reading and come upon a word which you do not know the meaning of, immediately, go to the dictionary and find out. Else you might well miss the single most important message in the book!"

I believe this advice could indeed apply to every aspect of our lives.
